Flour: I use a mix of whole wheat and all-purpose flour to make this easy pizza crust recipe. I recommend substituting ½ cup – 1 cup for the AP, as long as you’re using an equal ratio gluten free baking powder/soda along with it (1:1). It’s best not too overdo your alterations though; otherwise they can end up tasting like cardboard instead!
Water: If you want the perfect pizza dough recipe every time, use warm liquid that’s between 100-110°F for best results and allow 2 hours before baking. Anything over 130º will kill off any magic this may have had in its ingredients!
Suagar: You can use honey in place of sugar to get that sweet taste you love.

Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe
The following are the ingredients you will need to make your own pizza dough. These ingredients include:
- 2 packages dry yeast

In a medium saucepan, heat together crushed tomatoes and tomato paste over low heat for 5 minutes. Stir in garlic powder, oregano and Italian seasoning. Allow mixture to simmer while you prepare the pizza dough.
MAKE THE HOMEMADE PIZZA DOUGH
ADD FLOUR, OIL AND INGREDIENTS: After proving the yeast becomes foamy, add 1 cup of flour at a time until it’s all incorporated into your dough ball mixture. Add the salt, garlic powder and dried oregano, Italian seasoning and olive oil to your mixture.
KNEAD THE DOUGH
Knead dough for 10 minutes in a bowl with floured hands or in a stand mixer until it’s smooth and elastic.
LET THE DOUGH RISE:
Cover the bowl with a clean cloth, and let dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size. Punch your dough down to release any air bubbles.
DIVIDE AND ROLL OUT THE PIZZA DOUGH
Divide the pizza dough into 2 equal balls. Roll out each ball of pizza dough on a floured surface until it’s nice and flat.
PRICK THE DOUGH WITH A FORK BEFORE BAKING
Prick dough all over with a fork before baking to release any air bubbles.
PRE-BAKE THE PIZZA CRUST
Preheat oven to 450°F. Place the pre-baked pizza crust on a floured baking sheet, add your homemade pizza sauce and toppings of your choice.
BAKE THE PIZZA DOUGH
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
ADD TOPPINGS AND BAKE THE PIZZA
After you take the pizza out of the oven, add your desired toppings and put it back in the oven for another 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. (Broccoli, spinach, shrimp, chicken etc.)
USE A PIZZA STONE
If you have a pizza stone, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for preheating your stone to 450 degrees. If baking directly on a pizza stone (instead of using a baking sheet), turn out the baked pizza dough onto a cutting board sprinkled with cornmeal. Cut into slices and serve.
COOL & SERVE PIZZA
Once the pizza is done, let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. This will ensure that each slice has a crispy crust. Sprinkle with freshly shredded parmesan cheese and enjoy!
A FEW TIPS ON MAKING THE BEST HOMEMADE PIZZA
Use great sauce. If your pizza has an unappetizing color, it will taste the same way too!
A Pizza with a little cheese before the toppings is better for sticking. It also creates something called “cheesetopping sandwiches” that are just amazing.
Adding some processed Mozzarella or Neufchatel into your pizza dough can be an excellent way of ensuring those delicious veggies stay on top instead of running all over, making greasy pools at base where they meet sauce below!
Watch the pizza carefully. It goes from almost done to burnt in a flash if you aren’t careful!
