Pizza oven dimensions, pizza oven concept and how to use it are what we will mention in this article. The pizza oven will be an indispensable device for your family’s outdoor camping picnic at the weekend. You can build one at home to make the best pizza. Let’s learn more about this oven.
What is a pizza oven?
Outdoor pizza ovens are specialized ovens that are cooked at extremely high temperatures. They come in many different types and sizes. Classic pizza ovens are made of bricks and are heated using wood fire placed inside the oven. However, as these can take quite a while to prepare, heat and make – some people prefer to use a gas source instead.
Additionally, portable pizza ovens are evolving as a cheaper way to have delicious pizza at home. These are much smaller but can still reach high heat and bake a pizza in less than a minute. Typically using gas fuel, even models use wood pellets to recreate that smoky wood flavour.
How does a pizza oven work?
What’s so special about the pizza oven? It’s everything; it’s built there to retain heat. Why? Because it’s not the fire that bakes your delicious pizza, it’s the oven that has heat! Although pizza ovens are initially heated with a wood or glass flame, the base and dome use brick, tile, and insulation layers to hold all that heat. That’s why pizza ovens can reach temperatures above 800oF (425oC).
Once the oven is fully preheated, it’s time to start baking great pizza. But that process can take a while. Sometimes hours! That’s because a huge amount of material is needed to heat up – often weighing more than half a ton. Once a pizza oven is preheated, it can stay hot for days.
Of particular importance is the base of the oven. It’s made of brick, which, when fully heated, can cook pizza dough and give you a resistant base. In addition, this type of base also helps store heat, allowing pizza to be baked in less than 2 minutes.
How to make a pizza oven?
Pizza ovens are made from a variety of materials – all chosen to absorb huge amounts of heat. The bricks mainly keep warmth from gas or wood fire in the dome of the kiln and on the tiled floor. The heat held by these cooks your pizza. The outside of the bricks are layers made to retain heat – fibre insulation and perlite around the dome, with a few calcium silicate slabs underneath the tiled floor.
To see the build process, the steps they take are:
- Setting up the insulation for the subfloor (calcium silicate board)
- Setting the underfloor moulding heat (casting slab)
- Installing the floor tiles
- Building the dome brick
- Archway and chimney
Install fibre insulation, reinforced with mesh, then cast the render.
Pizza Oven Dimensions ( Brick Pizza Oven)
Depending on the kitchen space, you can adjust the size of the oven and the oven rack.
A wood-burning stove for the garden or inside the house will perfectly fit an average furnace size in the range of 82 – 90cm x 90 – 100cm.
A brick pizza oven for restaurants has a size between 1.22mx 1.5m or 1.5mx 1.8m. If the dome is needed, calculate the diameter to suit the size you choose and the price of the toaster oven. Pizzas are also adapted to the oven model.
Currently, oven prices are very diverse depending on the size, material and shape. It also depends on the agreement and signing between the distributor and the customer. A brick oven is a small investment, so you should consider prices in many places to choose the unit with the lowest price but the best quality.
General Pizza Oven Tips
- First, always start the oven early. For wood-burning from 2-3 hours, gas can be from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Check the temperature before cooking.
- Make sure the dough is evenly spread—the traditional way to take a dough container and actually ‘dip’ the dough ball in it.
- If the pizza burns too quickly (most likely on the first pizza), keep the crust between the pizza and the fire to help cook it.
- When cooking – do not move the pizza from the position you have set—very hot oven base. When you order a pizza, the spot cools a bit. When you need to rotate the pizza, keep it in place. If you put it anywhere else, the base will burn for a few seconds.
That said, if you check the base and it’s not cooked to your liking, quickly move the pizza to another stop in a few seconds. Then take it out. Those few seconds will dramatically increase your toaster’s heat-generating capacity.
Here’s how to get the perfect pizza oven and pizza oven dimensions, an excellent tool for the family’s backyard camping lunch. Making your pizza and enjoying them will be a fantastic experience for you.
